The purpose of special exam conditions is to put you on an equal footing with students who do not have the same challenges as you.

What exam conditions are available differs from study programme to study programme. Therefore, we recommend that you contact your student counsellor to hear about your options. If you need special exam conditions in connection with exam prerequisites, you should also contact your student counsellor.

Find contact information on student counsellors at VIA.

Below you can read about the different options.

Deadline for applying

In order for us to deal with a case concerning the allocation of special exam conditions, it is important that you apply or inform us of your need no later than three weeks before the exam.

If we receive information or an application for special exam conditions later than this deadline, we will still process your case. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to meet your application for special exam conditions in time for the exam.

NB! It is the student’s own responsibility to inform VIA if the impairment ceases or changes.

  • First language other than Danish

If you have a first language other than Danish, you can apply for special exam conditions, if necessary, to be treated on a par with other students at the exam.

You must apply for each individual exam, as your Danish language skills are expected to develop as you complete a Danish study programme. As a starting point, special exam conditions are only offered regarding language challenges in the first year of study, but this depends on a concrete assessment.

In order to be able to assign you special exam conditions due to a first language other than Danish, we need documentation of your first language, information about the language in which your primary and lower secondary school was completed and any further education taken, such as upper secondary school etc.

If you want to apply for special exam conditions due to a first language other than Danish, you must contact your study programme.
